PAR38 15W high-efficiency 120W compatible in warm white for recessed or track lighting
Saves 88% over a 120W incandescent bulb
MaxLite's LED PAR38 bulb looks like a standard incandescent PAR38 reflective bulb but uses only 15 watts of power, saves 87% over a 120-watt compatible and lasts 20 times longer. The payback is only one year or less, based on 3 hours per day usage. After that, it's money in your pocket.
PAR stands for Parabolic Aluminized Reflector and 38 stands for the diameter of the light bulb in eights of an inch. 38 = 38/8 inches (4.75"). This lamp has a 40 degree beam spread.
Not only does this efficient lamp offer big savings, but there's no compromise in looks or performance. The light output is 1050 lumens and the color is a 2700K (CCT) warm-white. Reflective lamps throw additional light in a specific direction, making them ideal for track, display and recessed lighting. And they're dimmable down to 10 percent. Special dimmers may be required; see features below for details.
Unlike incandescents, halogens and compact fluorescents (CFLs), LED lamps create light without wasting energy in the form of heat. They run much cooler and can be handled without gloves. If they break, they don't cause panic because there is no mercury inside like in most CFL bulbs. They also turn on and off instantly, without wearing out a filament or flickering, like CFLs.
But, most importantly, the color accuracy (CRI) is 82, which makes a tomato look like a real tomato instead of pale or ghostly. Gone are the days of weird-looking light bulbs with strange blue or white colors. This bulb will fit into any normal socket, and can be used indoors or outdoors ; it will last for 25,000 hours.
All of MaxLite's products are Energy Star rated, which means they're UL listed and LM-79 certified to the highest standards of efficiency and luminous efficacy. This product comes with a 5-year limited warranty.
LEDs may cost more initially than incandescent BR-30s or CFL bulbs, but due to falling prices, they are an excellent investment that will save you money immediately, and will probably never require that you change a light bulb again.
While larger than the BR-30 LEDs, these PAR 38s have a much narrower beam angle of 40 degrees which focuses the light more directly where you want it. PAR38 LEDs are a great solution for incandescent, halogen or CFLs that burn out quickly, are way too hot and waste lots of energy. These LED bulbs don't look weird and will probably never have to be replaced. Think about that the next time you're climbing your ladder.
Features & benefits
Low operating cost/big savings — save 87% on energy; payback in approximately 1 year. Average operating cost is $1.81 per year, depending on rates and usage; with the short payback of 1 year, this is a great investment
High-efficiency — 70 lumens per watt (lum/W) vs. 11 lum/w for incandescents and 60 lum/w for CFLs
Safer — contains no mercury; ultra-low EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies or dirty electricity)
Reduces cooling costs in summer — operates much cooler; requires less air conditioning
Longer-lasting — no filament or ballast to burn out from over heating; lasts approximately 22 years or 25,000 hours vs. 1,000 hours for incandescents and 10,000 hours for CFLs (based on 3 hrs. per day)
Less lumen degradation — over time, LEDs lose up to 30% of their light output while incandescents and CFLs lose 50% or more
Accurate color — close to incandescents in color rendering, but much more accurate color rendering than CFLs
Dimmable — can be dimmed with Lutron or Leviton dimmers without loss of color:
Lutron CTCL-153P, Lutron DVCL-153P, Lutron LGCL-153P, Lutron S-600, Leviton IPL06, Leviton IPI10, Leviton 6631-LW, Leviton 6683-IW
Easy-to-install — standard medium Edison base
Use almost anywhere — indoors or outdoors, on chandeliers, sconces, table, floor or ceiling lamps
Soft warm-white color — renders like a traditional incandescent, not harsh white or strange blue
Warranted — 5-year warranty
Energy Star — UL listed and LM-79 certified
Rebate-qualified — all utility companies require a minimum of Energy Star standards
Qualifies for LEED points — up to 16 points for energy and atmosphere, indoor environmental quality, sustainable sites, innovation and design process
