MaxLite LED Faux Can Light, 4" Dimmable, Wet Listed
MaxLite LED Faux Can Light, 4" Dimmable, Wet Listed
4" Energy Star Faux Can 13W LED, easy retrofit 50W compatible
Saves 76% over a 50W incandescent bulb
MaxLite's LED 4" Faux Can looks like a standard can light fixture from the outside but mounts directly to an electrical junction box without requiring a can for mounting. It uses only 12 watts of power, saves 85% over a 50-watt incandescent light and lasts 20 times longer than a normal can light. The payback is only one year or less based on 3 hours per day usage. After that, it's money in your pocket.
An LED Faux Can is not a light bulb, but a fixture that's hardwired directly, without the bulky can or labor associated with cutting open the ceiling. Because it's directly powered, there's no driver built into it, which is the key point of failure in LED systems. Hence the longevity is projected at 30,000 hours or 25 years with normal usage.
The light output is 540 lumens and the color is 2700K (CCT), which is warm-white. Because of the high lumens, LED Faux Cans may be used in kitchens, living and dining rooms, bathrooms, and virtually anywhere normal downlights are used. These fixtures are also CSA wet-listed, making them suitable for inside showers too. Like most LEDs, these are dimmable down to 10 percent. Special dimmers may be required; for dimming, see Overview & Features below.
Most importantly, LED Faux Cans come with a vivid color accuracy (CRI) of 90+ which makes colors look more realistic. This is equivalent to a 75-watt Par 30 halogen lamp.
Unlike incandescents, halogens and compact fluorescents (CFLs), LED lamps create light without wasting energy in the form of heat. They run much cooler and can be handled without gloves. If they break, they don't cause panic, because there is no mercury inside like in most CFL bulbs. They also turn on and off instantly, without wearing out a filament or flickering like in CFLs.
All of MaxLite's products are Energy Star rated which means they are UL listed and LM-79 certified to the highest standards of efficiency and luminous efficacy. This product comes with a 5-year limited warranty.
LEDs may cost more initially than incandescent or CFL bulbs, but due to falling prices, they're an excellent investment that will save money immediately, and will probably never require that you change a light bulb again.
These are the neatest LED fixtures, hands down--a brilliant innovation. Easy to install without the hassle and cost of installing a can fixture. But best of all, they are bright with beautiful color rendering--all at a fraction of the cost of a replacement can light. This makes upgrading to LEDs a snap. With the high quality of light and low initial cost, there is no excuse for not retrofitting with these LED Faux Cans now. While these look like can lights from the outside, they were not meant to replace them as there is a different product for that called: 4" Downlight Can Retrofit.
Features & benefits
Low operating cost/big savings — save 87% on energy; payback in approximately 1 year; average operating cost is $1.21 per year (depends on rates and usage)
High-efficiency — 45 lumens per watt (lum/W) vs. 11 lum/w for incandescents and 60 lum/w for CFLs
Safer — contains no mercury; ultra-low EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies dba dirty electricity), or UV light
Reduces cooling costs in summer — operates much cooler; requires less air conditioning
Longer-lasting — no filament or ballast to burn out from over heating; lasts approximately 25 years or 30,000 hours vs. 1,000 hours for incandescents and 10,000 hours for CFLs (based on 3 hrs. per day)
Less lumen degradation — over time, LEDs lose up to 30% of their light output while incandescents and CFLs lose 50% or more
Accurate color — close to incandescents in color, but much more accurate color rendering than CFLs
Dimmable — can be dimmed with the following dimmers without loss of color:
Lutron CTCL-153PD, Lutron LGCL-153PL, Lutron DELV-300P, Leviton IPL06, Leviton IPI10, Leviton SureSlide, Smart Home 2876D
Easy-to-install — hardwires direct to junction box, or special mounting brackets over recessed fixtures may be special ordered.
Use almost anywhere — indoors or outdoors even in wet areas, or anywhere good lighting is needed
Soft warm-white appearance — like a traditional incandescent, no harsh white or strange blue light
Warranted — 5-year warranty
Energy Star — UL listed and LM-79 certified
Rebate-qualified — all utility companies require a minimum of Energy Star standards
Qualifies for LEED points — up to 16 points for energy and atmosphere, indoor environmental quality, sustainable sites, innovation and design process
