A superior roofing felt

EcoStar Aqua Guard is a highly durable, waterproof underlayment designed for indefinite outdoor exposure on both residential or commercial buildings. Made of polyethylene/polypropylene, it's stronger and lighter than traditional roofing felt and is more slip, tear and wind-resistant. It will not degrade or crack when exposed to the sun for up to 90 days.

EcoStar Aqua Guard is a cost-effective alternative to roofing felt that provides superior protection while meeting all national roofing codes.

Why We Like It

This product is clearly a big improvement over petroleum-saturated felt paper. It's stronger, lighter, easier to install and longer lasting in extreme conditions of heat or wind. It's required by EcoStar for their Goldstar Warranty.

Application Instructions
It is recommended that Aqua Guard be installed by professional roofing applicators to ensure a quality installation. Prior to installation, the roof deck must be clean, smooth and dry. Because it is considered a vapor barrier, Aqua Guard must be installed above ventilated attic spaces. Lay Aqua Guard horizontally (parallel to eave) with the printed side up, and with 4-inch (102 mm.) horizontal laps and 6-inch (152 mm.) vertical laps. Attach Aqua Guard to the roof with roofing nails having 1-inch diameter (25.4 mm.) plastic caps spaced at 4-inches (102 mm.) on center on vertical and horizontal laps and at 12-inches (305 mm.) on center vertically and horizontally in the field. For additional protection, lay a single length of Aqua Guard vertically up all valleys and hips. After installation of Aqua Guard, installation of the roof covering can begin immediately. Though Aqua Guard is not designed for indefinite outdoor exposure, it can be left exposed for up to three months before applying the roofing system.
