How is it made?
TerraGreen recycled glass tiles are created through a sophisticated system called glass fusion. This process combines recycled glass and minerals to create an entirely new ceramic material with a distinctive look and feel. The body of the tile contains over 55 percent waste glass from windows, mirrors, and post-consumer glass like bottles and jars. The rest of the tile is made of nonmetallic minerals such as special clays, feldspar, sand, and silica.
The manufacturing process is designed to have no negative impact on the environment, or the employees.
Because of the handwork involved during the manufacturing process, no two tiles are exactly alike. This is especially noticeable in the TerraClassic line, due to the hand-rubbing each tile gets before firing. In the TerraTraffic line, the color isn't applied to the surface. It's consistent through the entire body, and the surface isn't as glossy. They also offer custom colors for both lines.
There are textured surfaces available for skid-resistant applications. The only way to really appreciate the beauty of these tiles is to see and handle them yourself. TerraGreen offers a full line of tiles for just about any type of application, residential or commercial, for countertops, flooring or walls. Install the tiles as you would any other tile installation.
TerraGreen Classic Series is polish gloss for walls, backsplashes and countertops mainly.
TerraGreen Traffic Series is a rougher matte finish for floors, walls, backsplashes, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the source of waste glass?
Approximately 55% of our body is recycled glass. The glass is gathered throughout the US from several different suppliers and then shipped into Tennessee where it is possessed into powder form to our specifications, bagged and shipped to our manufacturing facility in Richmond, Indiana.
What are the Maintenance Requirements?
TerraGreen Ceramics' products provide a surface that is considered "low maintenance." the combination of dense tile body and non-porous surface prevents dirt and stains from penetrating and keeps contaminants at surface level where easy removal can be facilitated through simple maintenance procedures. Sweeping and mopping with a mild, neutral cleaner is usually all it takes. Abrasive finishes require additional maintenance.
What are the actual dimensions? The field tiles are all 3/8" less than nominal size in order to allow for a 3/8" grout line. For example: an 8 x 8 is actually 7 5/8 x 7 5/8.
What type of setting materials are needed? A standard thinset bed is acceptable and universally used when setting TerraGreen products. Mastics may also be used, particularly when setting tile on a vertical surface.
Are sealers required for the tile? Neither Terra Traffic nor Terra Classic requires a sealer, however one may be used if desired to make cleaning easier. We recommend Aqua Mix, Sealers Choice Gold or any other non-toxic brand of sealer.
