Concrete products are rather technical, so please feel free to contact us at 800-405-0222.
We offer several different types of coatings and sealers:
-
Silacote--an inorganic permanent paint that penetrates and chemically bonds with the substrate. Comes in 250 earth tone colors and is zero VOC and completely non-toxic. Will never chip crack, peel or fade but must be used over new unpainted concrete, masonry, brick or stucco. for interior or exterior walls. Does not work well for flooring.
-
Deckote--made by AFM Safecoat--designed for concrete basement floors because it provides good resistance to abrasion. Comes in white but can be tinted to light colors. Low VOC. Can be used on walls or decks.
-
GBS Penetrating Stains and Sealers--in case you want a clear or colored stain that permanently waterproofs your basement floor, wall or patio deck, check these out. They are not paint but penetrating sealers that might be a better solution than a paint product.
Painting masonry, concrete, brick or stucco is similar to painting drywall or wood. Here are some steps to follow:
-
Prepare the substrate so that it is clean, dry and free of oil or other contaminates such as algae, mildew, mold, rust stains, or efflorescence.
-
Fill in all the cracks so the area is smooth.
-
For paint, prime the surface so that you fill the microscopic pores to provide the best adhesion of the top coat. Not required for stains or sealers.
