Strip and MegaStrip: A 2 3/4 or 4" wide glue down 1 strip flooring in a large variety of wood species with a tongue and groove square edge. 11 mm thick x 2 3/4 or 4" wide x 18.5" to 49 1/4" long.
So what's makes it different? It's all in the patented method of construction.
Kährs Three Layered Construction won't splilt apart in cold dry winters or cup in hot humid summers. Unlike hardwood floors that expand and contract considerably leaving unsightly gaps between boards which become homes to food and soil and subsequently mold, Kahrs floors remain entact--guaranteed--even over radiant heated floors.
But that's not all. Unlike imitation floating floors that have only paper thin wood veneer, Kahrs has a top wear layer that is a full 5/32 of solid wood -- which is about the same as normal hardwood floors. This is thick enough to be sanded two times should you ever need it. But you may never need it because the surface has a multi-layer UV Cured Acrylic Urethane factory applied finish which is guaranteed to last 25 years.
Save $$ hundreds or thousands and do it yourself. With Kahrs woodlock system, installation is a snap. Watch the 10 minute video and you can install it yourself (or with a friend who has a few tools). A thousand square feet of Kahrs flooring can be installed in a few days. There are a few items you will need such as a knocking block and last board puller to make the job easier. Underlayment is also recommended. See Related Products when you check out.

How does Kährs, three-layered board guarantee their product to remain entact ?
Each Layer is bonded with its own special adhesive and placed under extreme heat and pressure. The result is unparalleled within the hardwood flooring industry. Kährs invented and patented engineered flooring over 50 years ago. Here's how they do it:
-
Top Layer: The top layer of Kährs flooring is available in 12 different non-endangered natural styles in the industry. Choose from Pine, Beech, Maple, Ash, White Oak, Red Oak, Jarrah, Merbau, Birch, Cherry, Brazilian Cherry, and Walnut.
-
Silk Matte Finish: The multi-layer UV Cured Acrylic Urethane finish is factory applied. It is ready to be walked on as soon as the floor is installed. The finish is very easy to maintain and resists most common staining elements in testing done over 24 hrs. Kährs' standard finish is Matte, although some floors are available in High Gloss.
Kährs silk matte finish takes full advantage of the wood's character by accentuating its natural, living structure. It also gives the best durability, and makes the floor easy to clean. The natural color of unstained floowrs won't walk or scratch off. No need for match dye-lots for repairs and additions.
25 Year Wear Warranty: This wood-layer can be sanded and refinished several times and will last for decades. Kährs offers this warranty provided their maintenance instructions and guidelines are followed. Warranty is owner specific. Please see details in the Kährs Floor Care Guide and Warranty.
-
Middle Layer: made of quarter-sawn Pine fingers guarantees a lifetime of stability and shape retention. Competitors avoid this step because it is too costly, but the results of cutting corners never pays off. Kahrs uses the best products available because that is what it takes to make a great long lasting floor.
-
Bottom layer: made of Spruce contributes to the floor's stability. The cross-directional fibers minimize the movements arising from seasonal change. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Breathe Easier: Kahrs products are Environmentally Friendly
You can tell the minute you open the package. There is no smell and no toxic fumes off-gassing into your new home. The acrylate-based, UV-cured finish is naturally free from solvents, formaldehyde, and isocyanate. Kahrs meets all European health standards and exceeds most US standards because it contains fewer chemical compounds and is virtually emission free. MSDS .
Wood's Natural Changes Each species of wood has unique characteristics. Kährs relies on these characteristics to design their floor line, as they use Natural finishes instead of Stained. Natural wood surfaces are subject to color changes with exposure to normal sunlight. As with all natural products, these changes are an expected and desired element of the beauty and distinctiveness of wood floors.
Your Kährs floor will begin acclimating to it's environment as soon as it's installed. It will take several seasonal changes to patina the floor. Sunlight, room light, and temperature all play a part in how fast the floor changes.
It is advantageous to move or rearrange area rugs, furniture, etc, periodically to avoid the emergence of defined lines between exposed and unexposed flooring.
Kährs Traditional Wood Cut Kährs is a sliced wear layer - not peeled. This gives the traditional look of varied grain patterns. Solid strip flooring and most lumber is slice-cut like this. Rotary cutting of a log creates a big, open grain pattern as seen in plywood. This type of log cut can result in cracks or splits in the wear layer over time. Kährs slice-cut wear layer is stronger - for a lifetime.
Save $$ and do it yourself Kährs New Glueless Woodlock System makes installation a snap-- Kährs flooring features Woodloc construction- a patented milling profile that allows the flooring to click together without glue. This makes for easy installation with perfect results, every time. A Kährs floor can be installed over subfloors and existing floors, over a radiant heat system, on all flooring grades, in any room but full baths. Designed and constructed to be installed as a floating floor, but if so needed it can also be nailed or glued down, according to the installation instructions.
The photo below shows two pieces of Kahrs flooring connected together without glue. The reason it's hard to see two separate planks is due to the perfectly engineered woodlock system. Each plank locks the adjoining plank together very tightly; much more than the old tongue and groove method. This is another reason why Kahrs floors don't split apart like normal hardwood floors.
