DIY money-saving home power monitor bundle with WiFi Gateway

The PowerCost Monitor gives realtime feedback on how much energy a home is consuming in dollars and cents and in kilowats. Unlike some home energy monitors, the PowerCost Monitor doesn't require an electrician. In fact, anyone can set it up within 15 minutes.

The PowerCost Monitor uses a wireless sensor that easily attaches to the electric meter. The sensor provides information to an attractive countertop power monitor. Current utility rates must be entered into the power monitor and the unit calculates the usage based on readings from the meter.

The power monitor can be conveniently placed anywhere up to 100 feet from the sensor unit. This allows it to always be seen in the kitchen, on the night stand, on the wall in the hallway, etc. This unit shows real time energy use in dollars or kWh, changes in usage, 30-day energy use estimates, cumulative information (hourly, daily, weekly, etc.) and it also shows the time and outside temperature.

The WiFi Gateway includes everything needed to feed home energy data through the internet to either Microsoft Hohm or Google PowerMeter. These are free programs that allow for greater analysis of household energy usage. They can track current data, compare to historical patterns, connect to the community to learn how others have saved money and energy, and help develop an action plan based on user profile and how much savings are desired. An internet connection and WiFi router are required for this functionality.
